The Pension and Health Care Deform bill passed and was signed by Governor Christie. It is now law.
This is the beginning of the demise of our pensions.
The ONLY Local that is trying to do ANYTHING about the pension attack is Local 1033's President Rae Roeder.
So what is OUR Local doing about it??? Well, the other Presidents as well as ours has threatened to place her Local
into receivership if she doesn't pull the law suit. Apparently, these presidents have not learned from the mistakes
of the legislative leaders who have finally discovered that there are NO DEALS with this Governor that he is not above breaking
or reneging on! We should be attacking him in court on MANY fronts.
Local
1040 needs to be returned to the members. We need leaders that are responsive to our needs. Leaders who are also
politically savvy and who will FIGHT for our members, and not back down to management or cut deals that hurt us.
We need to regain our seat at the head of the table and return the Local to its once heralded prominence that dominated
the labor and political scenes for years.
