In 2003, state workers were asked to vote on a contract with several areas that were not completed yet, but we
were assured by Carolyn Wade that they would all be taken care of.
That
was a lie.
Whether we talk about the "essential personnel" designation
that was supposed to be done in the first year of the last contract (and was NEVER really resolved even 4 years and a new
contract later), or the Mastriani process of converting several management titles to Union titles (which were supposed to
be done in the first year of the old contract and just barely got partially done right before the contract expired 4 years
later), or the new agreement that was made regarding several state job salary upgrades which is already past due, the central
theme is a lack of enforcement by our local leaders.
Even the new
health care give away that Carolyn Wade convinced everyone was a good deal because, as she said, it will have nationwide coverage
was nothing but a lie. The bid that went out for that did not REQUIRE nationwide coverage... it only said that
nationwide coverage was a preference. If the bid does not require it, the provider does not have to honor it!
And now that the provider list is out, you can see that we have no in-network coverage in Florida, Georgia, South and North
Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland. Another lie by Carolyn Wade that is a disservice to our members
who relied on her empty promises.
If Carolyn Wade used her bargaining chips
to win these fights for our members instead of using them to get positions on the National CWA's Executive Board or onto
Governor appointed Commissions, our members might have gotten some justice. Instead, we have lots of titles,
appointments, and plaques with Carolyn Wade's name on them, while our Local membership continues to shrink and our members
get pushed further down on her priority list!
Carolyn Wade has ran so many people
out of the office that the staff that are left have double and triple workloads, which has resulted in a loss of servicing
for our members. We need to hire more Staff Representatives, but we need REAL staff representatives, not friends and
relatives of Carolyn Wade who happen to need a job!
Elections are coming.
